"... I want to be famous, I want to be a star, I want to be in movies. When I grow up, I want to see the world, drive nice cars, I want to have groupies." Anyone remember that Pussycat Dolls song? Perhaps, I'm showing my age. Okay, so that's not what I want to do when I grow up, but it's the first thing that came to my mind when I thought about it.
Day 3 of the Blog-tember Challenge: "When I grow up I want to be...." Feel free to answer as your 5-year-old self or as of now.
I said on Monday that I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up. And that's somewhat of a true statement. As far as what seems to be within comfortable reach of my life, I don't have any idea what I want to do. But if I lived in the clouds where my dreams often are, then I would tell y'all that I want to be a film music director.
What does that mean? In a nutshell, I want to be the person who puts music in movies! Now, how I came about this career choice is actually a little embarrassing. But for the sake of "baring it all," I'll share, just promise me you won't judge me!
My freshman year of college the first Twilight movie was coming out so I decided to read the books (don't worry, I have since renounced all things Twilight). And in reading the books, I kept thinking, "I know the perfect song for this scene." Well this continued to happen throughout the semester until November when the movie came out.
As I was telling some friends about the playlist I'd made for the movie, one of them suggested that I aim to make that my career. At that time, I was majoring in business management, which wasn't something I was passionate about. A few weeks later I was changing my major and enrolling in my first media class.
And the rest is history. Well, not really, I'm still trying to figure out if that's what I really want to do with the rest of my life. In the process of trying to figure this whole career thing out, I have found that I enjoy video editing. And in spending time writing this blog, I've rediscovered my love of writing. So I'm making small steps.
I say all that to say, that my story is still in the roughest of drafts. I mean, I'm still eating Captain Crunch with Berries for breakfast. And although I have plans to write my story the way I want, who knows what God has in store for me. I guess you'll have to stick around and find out!
What do you want to be when you grow up?
